THE PATH TO OUR SUCCESS

Metalservice Nordic A/S was founded in 1986 by Peter Gammelby, who ran the company alongside two partners during its early years.

Initially, Peter Gammelby’s private residence served as the company’s base, but as the business grew, it became necessary to find new, larger premises, so the company moved out of his home.

After a period in rented premises, the company moved to Torsted in 1991, which became the base for further growth in the years that followed.

The ownership structure changed between 2000 and 2002, when the two original partners stepped down, and Peter Gammelby sold 49% of the shares to the German company Niemet Metal, which today is divided between ACD Metall-Center GmbH and Manfred J.C. Niemann Beteiligungs-GmbH, both owned by the Niemann family. With the new shareholder, the door was opened to expand aluminum sales.

At the same time, it was decided to optimize logistics, in part by moving closer to the highway, and in 2003 the company moved into newly constructed facilities in Lund, where we are based today.

In 2022, Peter Gammelby sold his 51% stake to the Skanderborg-based company Damstahl a/s, a stainless steel wholesaler. This creates the opportunity to offer customers one-stop shopping, where products from both companies can be accessed via the same platforms.

Metalservice Nordic and Damstahl will continue to operate as two independent companies but will take advantage of economies of scale where possible and relevant. Among other things, Metalservice Nordic will gain access to Damstahl’s shared services offerings in areas such as digital development, IT, finance, and HR.
